ADA Accessible Parking

For the easiest access to Kentucky Kingdom Theme & Water Park, enter the Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC) via Gate 2 or 4 (see KEC map for directions). The KEC charges a parking fee of $12.00 per car and $25.00 per bus. Season Passholders receive free parking on park operating days; just show your season pass to the parking attendant.

Accessible parking spaces are available in the lots directly adjacent to the Kentucky Exposition Center buildings. Vehicles parked in the designated accessible parking spaces must display either the temporary hang tag or a permanent state license plate with the accessible parking notations. Parking in these spaces is on a first-come, first-served basis.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC) sets all parking policies and may change them at any time. To view the most current policies, visit the KEC website at http://www.kyexpo.org or call 502-367-5000 before your visit.

The pickup and drop-off location for Uber, Lyft, and passenger vehicles is 934 Phillips Ln. Drivers will need to turn into the Executive Strike & Spare parking lot and drive through the access gate at the end of the lot. Passengers can exit the vehicle at this location and walk to the Kentucky Exposition Center or Kentucky Kingdom, while drivers can exit the property on the right via Freedom Way. Parking refunds are not available.

Only Licensed Taxis, Hotel, and Show Shuttles should enter Gate 1 and drop off at the designated location based on the event. By default, taxis and hotel shuttles should drop off adjacent to the fountain on Freedom Way and exit Gate 1 or 6.

The On-Property Accessibility Center

Our front-line hosts are trained to provide all guests with an inclusive experience while visiting Kentucky Kingdom Theme & Water Park. However, we encourage those with special needs to visit the on-property Accessibility Center located at Guest Services at the start of your visit, which is conveniently located near the Front Gate.

At the accessibility center, a host can help you and your family make well-informed decisions to safely, comfortably, and conveniently experience Kentucky Kingdom Theme & Water Park.

Please review the below sections for information on accessibility services available during your visit.

Accessible Entrances for Attractions

The wheelchair symbol identifies attractions a guest may ride while remaining in a wheelchair. The wheelchair transfer symbol identifies attractions a guest may ride if they are able to transfer from a wheelchair to the ride vehicle or attraction alone or with assistance from a member of their party. Guests must be able to complete the loading and unloading process, which may involve standing, step(s) up or down, or a slight incline.

All riders must meet all rider requirements and be able to maintain the required rider posture for the duration of the ride. For more information, see Rider Requirements and Accessibility Guide.

Wheelchair users do not require an Attraction Boarding Pass. You may enter via the exit of any ride designated as accessible or transferable. See our Rider Requirements and Accessibility Guide for specific ride information. The ride operator will accommodate the wheelchair user and his/her party. Do not enter the ride area until instructed to do so.

Theater early entry is available for guests using a wheelchair or Electric Convenience Vehicle (ECV). Seating is limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Our theater is equipped to provide one companion seat in every accessible space.

Strollers, Wheelchairs, and Electric Convenience Vehicles (ECVs)

Guests may bring their own strollers, wheelchairs, and ECVs into Kentucky Kingdom Theme & Water Park. We also offer these items for rent on a first-come, first-served basis. These rental items are for use inside the park only and may not be taken outside the gate.

A single stroller's weight limit is 60 pounds, and a double stroller's is 100 pounds. Wheelchairs' weight limit is 250 pounds, and the ECV's is 450 pounds. Health Services provides wheelchairs for those who require medical attention.

Look for the wheelchair and transfer symbols on the attraction sign at each ride to determine if the attraction is suitable for you.

Prosthetic Devices, Casts, & Loose Items

Guests with a prosthesis of any kind must ensure that the device is properly worn, is secured, and will remain in place during the attraction cycle. The prosthesis must fit so that it does not become dislodged or stuck in any area of the ride or vehicle. Riders must enclose the use of prosthetic devices. Please reference the Rider Accessibility Guide to see which rides and attractions allow prosthetic devices.

Glasses should be secured with a sports strap while riding. See Ride Lite policy at specific attractions. Sports straps are available for purchase in all of our retail shops.

You should not ride our attractions if you have a neck, back, or bone condition. Guests with a cast or brace will not be allowed to ride if the cast or brace does not fit properly in the ride vehicle, presents a hazard to other guests, or will not allow proper rider posture.

Oxygen Tanks/Devices

Due to the forces, speeds, and movements of our rides, oxygen tanks are not permitted on ride vehicles.

Restroom Accessibility

Restrooms, showers, and changing rooms are available for all guests. Guests who prefer to use a gender-neutral or family restroom may use individual restrooms located near the picnic pavilions or any of our three (3) Health Services locations. See the park map for more information.

 Attraction Boarding Pass

Guests who are unable to stand in line due to a mobility restriction may request an Attraction Boarding Pass at Guest Services located at the front gate. Attraction Boarding Passes accommodate up to a party of six (6). Once you receive an Attraction Boarding Pass, you may take it to the exit of any accessible attraction. Six (6) of our rides – Kentucky Flyer, Lightning Run, Scream Extreme, Thunder Run, Cyclos, and Storm Chaser - require an assigned ride time. Guest Services will assign the first ride time if desired. Ride times for these attractions may also be assigned by the ride operator at any of the six (6) designated rides. Only one (1) ride time is assigned at a time. Once at the exit, hold up your boarding pass and wait for the ride operator to instruct you how to load the ride. Do not enter the ride area until instructed to do so.

Please note: Wheelchair users do not require an Attraction Boarding Pass. You may enter via the exit of any ride designated as accessible or transferable. See our Rider Requirements and Accessibility Guide for specific ride information. The ride operator will accommodate the wheelchair user and his/her party. Do not enter the ride area until instructed to do so.

Rider Switch

To accommodate our guests, our rider switch policy allows all those who meet the rider requirements to enjoy an attraction, even if a member of the party does not meet the rider requirements or does not want to ride. One party member may wait with the non-rider(s) in the entrance queue while the rest of the party rides. The waiting party member may then board the ride as the non-rider(s) exits the ride area with the other member(s) of the party.

Due to vibration on most rides, guests should take necessary precautions to protect hearing devices, eyeglasses, and all loose articles on rides at all times, as they may be damaged on rides.

Interpretation

Sign Language interpretation can also be requested for special events and shows with a minimum of 14 days advance notice. To request performance schedule confirmation or to request Sign Language interpretation at a specific special event or show, please call Guest Services at 502-813-8200 or contact an accessibility liaison for assistance. Guests will be contacted prior to their visit to verify arrangements, and they will receive an appropriate show schedule that lists the dates and times of the interpreted performances.

Calming Room/Area

If you need to take a moment in a quiet resting space, each of our three (3) Health Services locations has a quiet space available for up to two members of your party during the operating day. Please limit your visit to 30 minutes to help accommodate other guests who may also want to use this facility.

See the park map for Quiet Space locations.

ADA-certified service animals accompanying designated owners are welcome at Kentucky Kingdom Theme & Water Park. Service animals are not permitted on rides or in the water and must remain with a non-riding member of the party while the owner is enjoying our attractions. No other animals are permitted. Be kind and clean up after your service animal.

Kentucky Kingdom Theme & Water Park takes great pride in our menus and in accommodating special dietary needs and allergies. However, despite precautionary measures, cross-contact with peanuts, sesame seeds, tree nuts, soy milk, eggs, wheat, fish, or shellfish can occur in food production areas. See our Allergen Guide for details.

If you or a member of your party has special dietary needs that require you to bring specific food items into the park, notify a host at the security checkpoint area.

For a list of current food offerings, visit our dining page.

If you have additional questions about food allergies, please call Guest Services at 502-813-8200 or contact us online with your questions at least five business days before your visit.

Ride Signage

Ride warning and accessibility signs are located at the entrance of each ride to help determine which attractions are suitable for guests based on their abilities. A list of signs and descriptions can be found in the Rider Requirements & Accessibility Guide and online.

Medical Restrictions

Please read all health and safety requirements for each attraction, as they are not all the same. If you suspect your health could be at risk for any reason, or you could aggravate a pre-existing condition of any kind, do not ride. We encourage you to watch the attraction, when possible, before choosing to ride.

Ride Restraints

We encourage our guests to RIDE SMART! Rider requirements are established by the ride manufacturer, regulated by state law, and strictly enforced. We suggest that you become familiar with these requirements, listed in our Rider Requirements & Accessibility Guide, before visiting and riding.

The following resources are provided at each attraction to enhance your ride experience:

  • Height and weight requirements
  • Attraction rating
  • Rider posture
  • Rider positioning
  • Posted ride rules
  • Audible instruction

All riders must use the restraint systems properly. Riders with a larger frame, guests with certain disabilities, and those who have casts or braces may not fit safely into certain restraint systems. In such cases, they are not permitted to ride. Riders are not allowed to tamper with or disable a restraint system. Guests are encouraged to utilize the test seats before entering the queues at Lightning Run, Kentucky Flyer, and Storm Chaser.

Park staff is not permitted or trained to physically assist guests onto or off the attractions. We encourage guests who need assistance to visit with a companion.

For further information on ride and attraction requirements, including loose articles policy, lost items, etc., view the Rider Requirements & Accessibility Guide.

Physical requirements of all rides can also be accessed by visiting the on-property accessibility center at Guest Services or by contacting a Kentucky Kingdom Theme & Water Park Accessibility Liaison.
